Create Product listing on Etsy that sells

Why it is crucial to pay attention

Etsy has emerged as a very reliable source of income for many entrepreneurs including teens and stay-home moms but still, many people struggle to find their way to success on the E-Commerce store Etsy.

The reason?

Etsy is growing in popularity every day. Millions of people try to sell their products here. Some create their own products while others are more interested in dropshipping. Due to an exponential growth in the number of products being listed on Etsy, it is quite possible that your product may not get as many hits as it needs to be sold. In fact, hundreds of products disappear daily, without even being noticed by customers.

It is not that your product is bad or the price isn’t attractive. You might think of lowering your price at some point but this isn’t the right solution. You are at Etsy to make profits, not to sell your products cheap. This blog post is here to help you figure out what can you do better.

The product title

We all get excited when listing our product(s) on Etsy and want to name our products something cute, funny, or maybe unique but this would be a big mistake if you follow this routine. You should name your product the best way it describes.

Etsy has its own search engine but it works very much like any other search engine. It lets people type-in keywords in the search field and then matches those keywords with the title/description of the products and return the product listing based on the relevancy.

Think about your customers first. What they are searching for, what keywords they use, what keywords would describe your products in a more defined manner. Target your customer’s interest while keeping the Etsy search optimization in mind as well.

Product photography

To create a successful product listing, the second most important thing you need is a high-quality professional image of your product. Once you are found, the only thing that is going to help your product to grab customer’s attention is – its image. It is highly unlikely that anyone is going to be interested in a product that has a bad or blurry image.

Etsy lets you upload one to five digital images of your product. Be sure to upload pictures that best showcase your product – if possible, upload pictures taken from the different angles. Usually, the product photography is a special type of photography but you can achieve a professional look if you pay slight attention to light, angles, and background.

Putting plain white or black background behind your product can make a huge difference in the picture. If you are selling any wearable products like jewelry or clothes, you can showcase the picture of the model(s) wearing that piece of product. This will help customers to make any purchasing decisions for your product.

More creative and professional your product photographs are, the more chances it has to attract the customers.

Product description

This is where you add all information about your product. Describe your product in detail. Provide all the useful information you have for customers about its construct, design, size, or use.

Anything that would help your customers to make any purchase decision should be mentioned here. Include return and exchange terms, cancellation policy, or shipping policy if you have to.

Category and price

While creating your product listings, it is very important that you choose the right category. Again, the intention here is to be found on Etsy.

Price is something that plays a huge part in the success of your Etsy Business. You set your product’s price too high, and no one is going to buy it. If you set it too low, you are going to lose profits. So, choose wisely, something in the middle. Your product should be affordable yet useful to sell well.

Tags

Apart from title and description, Etsy also uses tags to make your product listings more accessible for customers searching for similar products as you have. You should do research about what tags customers are searching for or your competition is using.

Inventory & Shipping details

Either you are selling digital or physical products, it is very important that you mention it along with the inventory and shipping details. Often customers love the products but getting it even with a slight delay can make them submit a negative review that can harm your business on Etsy.

You have to be very careful when entering shipping details here. Add some extra margin when adding shipping durations to avoid any unseen delays. Getting it sooner than the delivery date is better than getting it with delay. Get yourself familiar with all the necessary packaging and delivery options. Choose a faster, reliable, and safer option instead of cheaper ones.

Review

Once your product listing is complete, click the “Preview” button. Read every detail you entered carefully. Correct any mistake or incomplete information. Click on “Save” and “Continue” buttons to store and publish the listing in your Etsy Shop.
